Those of us with mental health struggles need media that not only informs, but uplifts.

While we have plenty of mental health information these days, its tone is often so grave that it fails to delight or meet our need for lifestyle content focused on fun, resilience, and healing.

Let’s Not Be Alone Anymore is my attempt to fill the gap. To merge “lifestyle content” and mental health information.

Cinema therapy? Bibliotherapy? A potentially game-changing resource, app, or tool? Personal essays from someone who’s been there (and still is). Comments, connection, and even voice messages? It’s all here - and more.

So, let’s not be alone anymore.

Who I Am

I’m a working writer and poet based in the Blue Ridge Mountains. My lifelong struggles with PTSD, depression, and anxiety have often derailed my life and shut down my voice, making me feel catastrophically alone.

Things are better now. I’m healing and growing, and I want to reach out to those who are struggling to be well, who may be fighting for a life they truly deserve.

Regardless of what’s happened to us or how broken we feel, every single one of us has experience, strength, and hope. We need information that treats us as whole people and delights, empowers, and connects.

What’s In Each Issue?

It’s simple. Monthly issues will contain the following 4 sections:

  • 3 Curated Lifestyle Recommendations for Resilience and Hope - Shows, books, movies, music, podcasts, creators, websites, apps, resources, tools, and more.

  • Conversation - A short, personal essay. In a voice that’s some combination of practical, poignant, darkly irreverent, and bittersweet.

  • Connection - “Leave Me a Voice Message.” You call my phone line and leave me a voicemail, sharing whatever you wish to share. I listen to every. single. one. While I can’t reply to individual voice messages, I will reply. Well, first I might cry. Then I’ll create one monthly reply and send it to everyone. Traditional written comments also welcome!

  • Beauty Medicine - A written passage or image to invoke the profound and deeply restorative emotions of beauty, wonder, and awe.

Very Occasional Bonuses + Benefits:

  • “Choose Your Own Adventure” live chats: Each person does “a thing” that supports their wellness. You could read, do a workbook, garden, cook, research therapists, dance, yoga, color, whatever. But we do it together for extra fizziness and support! I offer structure so you can chat but also do the “thing.”

  • Conversations with experts and advocates: A podcast where I indulge my love language of interviewing people.

  • Playlists

  • Think pieces and pop-up commentary at the intersection of pop culture and mental health.

  • Guest Writers: Invite-only opportunities to publish in the newsletter. I also accept pitches and if I like your idea, I’ll invite you to submit :)

What’s the Publishing Schedule?

New issue comes out once a month.

To Subscribe or Not To Subscribe?

You can sample each issue of the newsletter for free but access to the entire experience requires a paid subscription. However, fear not! It’s the cost of a nice cup of coffee. In my area, that’s about $7. If you have trouble paying, just message me. I’ve been known to gift things to people :)

On that note, 1% of everything I earn from this newsletter will be donated to next generation carbon removal.

What Else?

My content reflects my personal journey. It’s not mental health advice. I’m not a mental health professional and emphatically advocate seeking professional support and treatment whenever things seem harder than they should be. This newsletter is for adults, or as we call them in the South, grown folks.
